Our Fresh Produce Report

This report was updated on Wednesday 13th January for deliveries 18th - 21st January.

Orders for delivery Monday - Thursday

Order by no later than 3pm Sunday

Some specialty items like Bread & Dairy have specific order cut off times. Please check these out when placing your order.

Thank you all so much for bearing with us as we chop and change the way we are delivering to you as we work around the Corona Virus and the strangeness that it has brought for all of us.

We are now back to picking up all boxes (including cardboard) as well as all packaging material on a weekly basis...

....BUT if we cannot safely separate returning boxes from orders we are yet to deliver in our vehicles .....our priority will be picking up poly boxes (please put all packaging material in your poly)....so if we take your poly and not your cardboard - please recycle the cardboard at your end that week.

Returned boxes and packaging material are being cleaned, stored and re-used in due course. Please let me assure everyone that we are taking the cleaning and storing process very seriously at our end to protect our own family (including staff) and yours (our extended Lettuce family).

We are all still well....none of our family (including staff) have come into direct contact with any person carrying the virus and we are following strict procedures at our end to limit the chance that our team are exposed to the virus.

Our warehouse is still not open to the public at all and Couriers delivering stock to us are not coming inside our warehouse. We are following all of the guidelines provided to us by the World Health Organisation aswell as our Government to reduce any potential exposure to COVID-19.

Take care everyone,

Emma for Ben Slade and Cheryl & Bob Stuart

Please take note:

  • No additions of changes to orders will be accepted after 3pm each Sunday.
  • Sensible Substitution will be made at our end if items are short or not available unless you advise otherwise.
  • Favourite orders (for recurring order customers) will be placed as early as Thursday. If you change your order after we have placed it on your behalf please send a new order to us (before the cut off) - we will know which one we have placed and delete it.

  • So, so good to have my fridge re-stocked. We always love a little break....but the last few days felt like forever in terms of craving fresh fruit & Veg – especially after the list was updated and I knew the amazing bounty of fruit & veg coming in this week. Yum! Like you, our family get a delivery – from Lettuce of course.....our order is picked and packed like all others, sometimes I take the order home with me, other times we get a delivery to our door. We do this so we are close to you in terms of packing, how items travel, etc, etc. Ruby & Jett always help me unpack, prepare for storage in pantry or fridge and put away....We were all basically singing and dancing around the kitchen : ) Some items did not even make it to the fridge (Grapes in particular). I hope you all felt the same way!
  • ...so everything is looking fantastic at the moment....except some of the Celery has brown rot through the centres. We noticed some had been cut out on farm, others were cut out in our warehouse and I worry that some have slipped through the gaps....this is not obvious if you have a tightly formed bunch....please check the inside of your bunch – just in case....if you do have any stems in the centre that have started to deteriorate it is best to remove them sooner rather than later....This problem does not look as though it will go away soon....know what to expect.....
  • Headed Lettuce presented a few problems this week – our local growers Paul and Joe Cremona always struggle at this time of the year due to the extreme temps, not helped this last month with all of the rain we have been experiencing. Joe is pulling the pin on the Mini Cos for a few weeks and Paul’s Cos is small – know what to expect. Some of you have received Cos this week that we bought in from Peninsula in Vic..the lettuce were huge and cost us more than we were selling them to you (you win some and lose some) – but I tell you this so you know that this was a one off and all heads will be local and small again week starting 18th January.
  • New season Pippin Apples were a little aesthetically challenged as we expected (Heirloom varieties always are) ...but flavour was good. Available again this week. New season Gala also available from GMP Farm in Victoria. Please keep in mind that the first pick of Gala Apples are never a great colour (a little more white/green than we would like) and will sweeten with each passing week – so don’t stock up ! Juicing Apples will still be ‘old season’ fruit for at least the next few weeks.
  • Grapes (Ralli in particular), Cherries, Blueberries (Still on grower special - $5.60 each this week), Yellow Nectarines (although skins are quite marked), Yellow Peaches and Plums – all varieties were stand outs this week in the fruit department.
  • Red Caps from Shane still in very good supply – still $20 per kilo this week.
  • Please return our boxes, icepacks and plastic boxes containing soft fruits and veges! These can be used over and over again if treated with care. We also welcome the return of all other packaging material that may find it's way into your order, egg cartons, bubble wrap, lettuce, strawberry and cherry tomato punnets aswell as spinach boxes, etc. I know many are sceptical about the recycling of goods through local councils....but please be assured we deliver all of the packaging material we use (when the end of their life is upon us) into Sydney Markets where recycling is a big business.....

  • Did you know we have Recipe Packages, also simply known as Meal Inspiration for those of us preparing dinner for the fam each evening...Head to our Meal Inspiration Page to find this week's selection of Recipe inspirations. We know you all have things in your pantry like Olive Oil so with our packages you can simply add the package to your cart and then delete any goodies you don't require. So simple !

We have updated our website with the most up to date and accurate information available to us at this time, but due to many factors including that most of the produce is yet to be picked there is of course some uncertainty with our expected supply. The good news is that we have quite a few supply options available to us and so we may list a Grower on our site that does not end up supplying us goodies this week. Rest assured we only deal in Certified Organic, Australian Grown Fruit and Veges - so any replacements we may supply to you from other Aussie Growers will also be grown in line with the National Organic Standard. You don't have to take our word for it... Lettuce Deliver is also a Certified Organic Retailer (NASAA Retailer R9291) which means that we have to be able to prove any claims we make about a products organic status at a moment's notice : )

PLEASE RETURN OUR BOXES

Please return our boxes, icepacks and plastic boxes containing soft fruits and veges! These can be used over and over again if treated with care. We also welcome the return of all other packaging material that may find it's way into your order, egg cartons, bubble wrap, lettuce and spinach boxes, etc. I know many are sceptical about the recycling of goods through local councils....but please be assured we deliver all of the packaging material we use (when the end of their life is upon us) into Sydney Markets where recycling is a big business.....Please leave all these goodies in your returning boxes out for our drivers to collect on your next delivery.

MILK

...in many cases the Milk we offer you needs to be pre-ordered at our end a week in advance. Most of the time our guess- timates are spot on...but we have been caught out on the odd occasion. We do have a number of Dairy options available to us and so if we run short  on some varieties, we may look to others to fill the gap. If you would like us to supply ONLY the milk you have ordered or nothing at all, please make a note with your order.

CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS

As you know, we charge your credit card for your delivery total on the day of or day after your delivery. Please ensure that we have your up to date credit card details and that there are sufficient funds available on the day of your delivery for us to process your payment.
